Memory 60
Memory: Eliminating the threat of the Diversity Alliance and the Emperor's Plague.

Summary: The kids destroy a weapons depot full of terrible biological weapons, and stop a bunch of people who just want to Kill All Humans.
The Young Jedi Knights have taken two ships and Bornan Thul -- Raynar's dad -- to an old, hidden weapons depot; a labyrinth of pressurized domes, tunnels and sealed chambers that constitute an asteroid station. Jaina and the Rock Dragon have docked at different sections due to the station setup and have to rendezvous.
Bornan wishes a smuggler named Fonterrat had never found it; Raynar, who's grown as a character, takes a more Jedi view and wishes a weapons depot hadn't been made, period. Jaina, continuing to be the character who drives things forward in the YJK group, says they should do something about it. Zekk points out Diversity Alliance leader Nolaa Tarkona is probably on the way. Bornan leads them into the central chamber, through heavy security and airlock doors.
The chamber they've entered looks down on a main room filled with rows and rows of canisters, tubes and pretty much any other container the author thought of -- each filled with a different bio-weapon that targets different species. Humans, wookies, whatever. The kids speculate there's enough of the junk in there to kill everything in the galaxy. The party sets themselves a step above such brainiacs as the scientists of Prometheus but noting they shouldn't go in there without precautions against contracting any of the plagues. They settle on destroying the entire goddamn asteroid. It IS a weapons depot: they can go elsewhere to get all the munitions they need for the task.
Why Jaina, you're so excited about demolition for once. Jacen and Tenel Ka reference the kids blowing up weapons stockpiles in Nolaa Tarkona's tunnel complex on the planet Ryloth. Bornan says he can't figure out the code to the locker they need; Tenel Ka's about to lightsaber it, but Em Teedee's been learning more about hacking and thinks he can get in. Jaina hooks him up, and the little translator droid unseals the door. They arm to the teeth and Jaina gives them instructions on structural weak points. They split the party. Lowbacca's going into the central chamber after they discuss risks of exposure; Zekk, Raynar and Bornan go one way while Jacen, Jaina and Tenel Ka go the other direction.
And of course the Diversity Alliance fleet arrives while they start setting up their explosives.
We get some narrative about how Jaina examines the architecture to place the explosives in the best place. They chit-chat about the details of how the old munitions work and were employed in the galactic civil war. The twins place explosives, and Tenel Ka uses her saber to sever various support beams or disable safeties. Jacen tells a joke that is just the worst. Then the kids get a feeling from their danger senses. Momentarily they run into a party from the Diversity Alliance and lead them on a chase; Tenel Ka's glad for who it is -- because the particular enemy is a terrible shot. Jaina sets off a grenade behind them to take care of their pursuit. More enemies are coming up quickly, though. Tenel Ka tells the twins to hurry and starts fighting; Jaina gets them behind a blast door and sets a new entry code to slow down pursuit. Tenel Ka suggests it's time for desperate measures.
Tenel Ka's leg is injured, but she takes the lead and the twins have to struggle to keep up. Jaina gasps that it's hard to have a committee meeting while on the run. Luckily Tenel Ka still isn't actually explaining her plan. They final stop at an intersection; Tenel Ka suggests setting explosives there. Narrative says Jaina's mind switches to "analytical mode." She points out structural weak points and they set up explosives while Tenel Ka finally explains that if she remembers everything they've been through well enough, they're 100 meters from the Rock Dragon. The blast is going to be huge, so they'll do a full takeoff in the Rock Dragon and dock at a different entry point to finish the job free of the pursuit that's coming for them. They set the detonators and make a frantic dash to the ship. Jaina launches without waiting for Jacen to strap in, so he takes a tumble and hits his head. It still only barely gets them out of the explosion.
And that's when they notice the Diversity Alliance brought an entire fleet. Instead of just going to dock at a new place, Jaina's ending up tied up with evasive maneuvers. Jacen estimates 30-40 enemy ships. They managed to get the Hapan ship behind the asteroid, reasoning the Alliance won't risk damaging the depot. It only buys a few moments before the Alliance ships come around the asteroid from all possible vectors. They're starting to take fire when New Republic ships arrive on the scene, led by the Falcon. Jaina pilots the Rock Dragon on the Falcon's flank as the fleets engage; the fleet can't fire on the depot while the other jedi are still down there, and the kids on the Rock Dragon can't land until the enemy fleet is subdued.
(Elsewhere: IG-88, the assassin droid Jaina reprogrammed earlier in the arc, shows up and saves the day for the other young Jedi. Bornan Thul sacrifices himself facing off with Nolaa Tarkona herself. Boba Fett helps save the day too because other members of the Thul family hired him now that his contract to find Bornan is complete. Bornan dies in front of Raynar, Nolaa escapes.)
The space battle wraps up: The Diversity Alliance lacks training and causes more confusion than actual damage. The Thul family fleet arrives at the last minute to give the final pressure for the enemy to give up and scatter in retreat. Jaina takes the ship in to find the others, finish setting explosives and get out. Zekk passes on the news of Bornan Thul's death by plague. Again, they cut the timing on their explosives close in lifting off. They notice Lowie's friend Raaba's ship; Jacen comms her and offers to help. Raaba is actually helping Nola Tarkona, and the enemy leader tries getting her to accept the help so she can expose the kids to whatever plagues she and Bornan were exposed to. Raaba disagrees, seeing that Nolaa is mad with this quest to kill as many humans as she can rather than fighting for some ideal like Raaba had thought. Instead, Raaba sends them an encoded burst so only Lowie will be able to get her message, then flies off.
The New Republic rounds up and apprehends as many of the enemies as they can.

"This is a weapons depot. The Emperor stored munitions here as well as biological weapons. The plague canisters are in this central chamber, but I'm fairly certain that some of the other bunker rooms contain thermal detonators, explosives, space mines, heavy demolitions equipment."
"Yeah... we could use stuff like that," Jaina said with a twinkle in her eye.
