Memory 68
Memory: Solo kids do their civic duty: shootin' space junk as a competitive game.
Received: Day 259, noon
Form: Tiny gift wrapped box with a sugar cookie inside.
Summary: Silly competitive things. Pretty much what it says on the tin.

The Young Jedi Knights are heading to visit the twins' parents on Coruscant! Han's taking them in the Falcon, and during the hyperspace flight they watch outside then play dejarik, holographic Star Wars version of chess seen in the original movie. Tenel Ka's helping Jacen, and Jaina's conspiring with Lowie. Jaina and Lowie are winning. Han announces they're coming out of hyperspace in five minutes. Jacen wants to try some target practice, because he figures there's a better chance of pulling a win out of that competition.
As it turns out, whenever they fly in on the Falcon, Han lets the kids shoot at the thick wreckage that's been building up in orbit around the planet due to all the wars that's been going on over the recent decades -- particularly the overthrow of the Empire. Jaina complains there's hardly enough debris for both of them to shoot at on one flight lane, which makes sense considering the turret setup has them on completely different facings. Jacen challenges her: she's just worried she'll get a losing streak. She takes the bait.
Tenel Ka decides to spot for Jacen, and Lowie will do the same for Jaina. The kids explain the competition is actually useful because it's vaporizing wreckage that can damage ships filching to and from the planet. Jaina hits a target first, but Jacen ties it up. Han won't slow down or take any detours for them to take extra shots. "You twins are always at a tie. If I let you keep shooting until one of you scores and the other doesn't, we'll be circling the solar system for years. Come on back up to the cockpit. We're almost home."
They land on the city-planet and pile out to meet up with Leia, little brother Anakin, and translator droid Threepio. They exchange happy little greetings and head to the Chief of State's suite, a place in the Imperial Palace.
